How the stay runs
Check-in is from 2 PM. Around 4 PM you head out for the jeep and camel safari, reaching the dunes for sunset at about 6 PM. Back at camp there is a traditional welcome, snacks at about 7 PM, and the cultural programme with Kalbelia folk dance from about 7:30 PM. DJ music and a bonfire follow, weather permitting, with dinner at about 9 PM. Breakfast is in the morning and check-out is at 10 AM. Timings shift with the season.
Where you sleep
You sleep in a proper bed, not a sleeping bag, with an attached bathroom. Choose from five categories: the Royal Swiss Tent, Royal AC Swiss Tent, Royal Swiss Tent With Pool, Desert Suite and Desert AC Suite. In the cool months a non-AC tent is usually comfortable; from March onward, choose air-conditioning.
Prefer to sleep under the open sky?
Our One-and-a-Half-Day and private overnight safaris spend the night out on the dunes, on mattresses and blankets, further from the camp. They are a different, simpler experience.
What to pack
A warm layer for winter nights, sunscreen, a scarf, sunglasses and a torch. Our first-timer’s guide to desert camping has the full list.
