Inside the suite
A carved wooden four-poster bed under a white canvas ceiling printed with gold stars and edged with a scalloped border. The walls are washed in saffron above an emerald-green dado, with a painted green arch framing the bed and brass wall lanterns either side. Cane-backed armchairs, a marble-topped side table and a tea and coffee tray complete the room.
Dressing alcove
A separate alcove with a tall wooden wardrobe, a full-length mirror and a dressing table with a carved mirror.
The bathroom
A built bathroom with ochre walls, a vessel basin on a sandstone counter, a wall-hung toilet and a walk-in rain shower with a botanical tiled wall.
Your own porch
Each suite opens onto a raised sandstone porch with carved balustrades, a canvas canopy and two wooden chairs at a marble table, looking over the planted garden.
Cooling
The Desert Suite has a pedestal fan, not air-conditioning. It is comfortable in winter; from March to October choose the Desert AC Suite.

More room than a tent
Our Desert Suites have a four-poster bed and a more furnished interior than the Swiss tents, with space to sit and unpack. Guests staying two nights, or travelling with a child, tend to prefer the extra room.
Who it suits
Couples who want a step up in comfort without the pool category’s rate, and small families. If you are travelling outside winter, the Desert AC Suite is the better choice.
Winter at the camp
From November to February the suite is comfortable without cooling. Evenings outdoors are cold, so pack a jacket for the dunes and the cultural programme.
Staying two nights
A second night lets you do a sunset safari one day and a sunrise safari or a half-day non-touristic safari the next, without rushing back to the city.
